Imagine the warm shadows of sandy beige silks, the expressive brushstrokes of clean, deep colours of blue and green, blowing drapery from the salty breeze from the morning beach run, the curvature of fabric folds and clever cutting from drawn colour field silhouettes. Feels like heaven, and that’s how exactly this young brand Yes Way Fashions has taken its inspiration to create their new collection Pyjamaland 2018-1.
Their references come from nostalgic roots of pyjama sets, mainly known as beach pyjamas that have supported the feeling of playfulness, motion, simplicity, inner convalescence and finesse. This 2018-1 premiere collection is devoted to the abstractionist women artists, Helen Frankenthaler in particular. The story of her life, her friendship with Sonya Rudikoff, Joan Mitchell and Grace Hartigan as well as romantic emotions from their works that impacted on the collection atmosphere.
The whole collection is created from natural and breathable fibres like Italian pure silks, viscose and gentle silky velvets. Colour shades are inspired by the seaside culture and vivid tones of paint from Helen Frankenthaler works. All silhouettes are initially taken from cutting patterns from the 20s pyjamas and vintage sleepwear blended with detail pieces from Helen looks in studio: knotted menswear shirts, low shoulders, loose sleeves and lapel collars.
The brand has thought of a full sleepwear collection including sleeping masks that are artisanally supplemented with delicate embroidery like french knots, sequins and fringes by Russian needlewomen.
Yes Way Fashion is a young leisurewear brand from Moscow created by two friends named Nelli Kim and Anastasia Ivanter, both former MA graduates from LCF. Before starting their first collaborative company, Anastasia gained experience in the couture industry while Nelli has been teaching fashion to students for several years and working on freelance projects.
The label is about physical and psychological feeling of comfort represented through contemporary and loose silhouettes from interesting pattern cutting. The label has all seasons friendly collections. The clothes are not tied to AW/SS since founders believe in a timeless, forever fashionable and sustainable wardrobe which is an antidote for fast fashion. Being perfect for any type of activities and infused by the feeling of romance and nostalgia, all pieces could be easily mixed and matched to put on quickly for home dreaming or garden catnapping, countryside book reading or beach sunbathing, seaside voyage or cruise travelling, hotel resting or warm summer neighbourhood walking.
