The next Chinese New Year begins on February 16, 2018, and Gucci celebrates the year of the dog with a very special objects collection. The Gucci dog motifs for this collection have been inspired by a pillow that the artist Helen Downie, AKA Unskilled Worker, gave to the Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele, where the illustrations of his two Boston terriers, Bosco and Orso appear. The dogs of Unskilled Worker adorn a wide variety of pieces that has been developed for the collection, including pieces of clothing (ready-to-wear for men and women), shoes, bags, travel pieces, small pieces of leather and accessories. Knitted sweaters in bright colors, and jeans shorts with images for women, as well as sweatshirts and bombers for men. The animals appear in backpacks and bags with the Gucci Supreme material, and in colorful leather clutches and purses. Scarves, sneakers and jewelry are also embellished with the images of these two dogs, as well as watches that also show the faces of the dogs. The collection consists of 63 pieces in total, and will be promoted through the digital channels of Gucci (notably in its new e-commerce channel in China) and in stores, with special packaging. The shop windows will also be dedicated to this collection, with tartan walls, floors and mini banks upholstered in tartan to display the products, with a giant image of each dog. For iPhone X users, special interactive content will be available in the Gucci App. It will allow them to give life to Orso and Bosco with their own expressions, through facial recognition technology, and record a video that can be shared from the app. The collection will be sold in all markets, both in Gucci stores and Gucci.com, from the end of January, just in time for the Chinese New Year.
