“I’ve always been inspired by those who make the active choice to live away from the city. It’s amazing to see creative people gain clarity of mind when they escape. This is about their wardrobe, which evolves to be its own language.” – Jonny Johansson, Creative Director Romantic and practical, a layered look of separates that creates character. Oversized trench coats have raglan sleeves and snap fastenings, while a putty pink trench is worn with a blanket scarf. Waxed cotton coats look well lived-in. Long silk floral dresses are pleated, with each pleat cut to create raw edges. Grey organza shirts and apron dresses are embroidered with wildflowers. Fine underpinnings in jersey or wool are important, like a ribbed fine wool sweater in bands of colour, as if touched by winter light. There are many coats, from a blanket coat or a quilted leather coat, to a wool coat with panels of fake fur and a raspberry coat in worn jumbo cord. Skirts are calf length with an A-line shape. Some are in various checks, while others are in fabric like upholstery, or denim bonded with check. Worn moleskin blazers are perfect for outdoor life. Belted denim jackets and matching trousers are like tailoring for a life of escape. Knits are as if handmade, with imperfectly shaped sweaters as an outer layer, or a long knitted dress with irregular stripes of colour bleeding together. Pieces become adapted for the environment, like a little shearling jacket with an attached knit collar and an attached band of ribbed knit to cover the waist. Large bags are soft enough to be carried in the hand. Belts are like leather cord. Socks are thick and all shoes are flat, whether slippers or sneakers ready for walks in the free air.
